Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) or Bone Marrow Transplant is the transplantation of hematopoietic stem cells, usually derived from bone marrow, peripheral blood, or umbilical cord blood. It may be autologous (the patient's own stem cells are used) or allogeneic (the stem cells come from a donor). It is a medical procedure in the fields of hematology, most often performed for patients with certain cancers of the blood or bone marrow, such as multiple myeloma or leukemia. In these cases, the recipient's immune system is usually destroyed with radiation or chemotherapy before the transplantation. Infection and graft-versus-host disease are major complications of allogenic HSCT.

Artemis Bone Marrow Transplant Unit is a state of art facility that caters to all the hematological issues. The unit boasts of 10 dedicated beds for the purpose. The hematology team routinely performs all sorts of transplants including autologous, allogenic, matched unrelated donor, cord blood and haplo identical stem cell transplants. We have dedicated teams for adult and paediatric transplants.
